Legend of the Chaos Emeralds Chapter 3

"So, that's Discord," mused Timmy. "I didn’t expect him to be such a big guy!"

"Bad guys always seem to think bigger is better," Rainbow Dash replied.

"Hey, something's happening!" Mordecai noticed, "Over there."

The group turned to see the final battle between Māo Xū, Past!Celestia, Past!Luna, the Original Bearers, Discord and Vasilas. Vasilas, like Discord, was a hodgepodge of different creatures, having the claws of a lobster, the body and head of a liger, vulture wings and a dragon tail.

"So wait," said Bea, "those guys were the ones who beat Discord?"

"Yes  and no," Celestia replied. "You see, Azura had five other friends right  here in Canterlot: Adamina the Joyous, Beryl the Soft-Spoken, Blain the  Brash, Glaucia the Able-Bodied and Zedong the Pure. Azura had been searching for the Elements of Harmony, only to realize that the Elements  were inside her and the others. As Azura and Māo Xū traveled to Canterlot, Azura bestowed her gift of future sight to the tabby, if only  to give them a fighting shot at beating Discord and Vasilas. However, as the battle raged on, things took a turn for the worse. When it came time for the final battle, well see for yourselves."

"This is bad," said Beryl, a Pegasus stallion. Without the Elements of Harmony, we can't win."

"So? Never stopped us before," retorted Blain, a Pegasus mare. "No matter what, we have to protect Equestria, even if it means we have to die in the process."

"Easier said than done," responded Zedong, a unicorn mare like Azura. "We're all doomed, doomed I tell you."

"Huh, Zedong reminds me of somepony," snarked Twilight, stealing a glance at Rarity.

"And just what is that supposed to mean?" an indignant Rarity questioned.

"You guys," Rocky chided, "this is important."

"You are fools!" Vasilas declared as he deflected a barrage of magical energy from Zedong, Azura and Māo Xū. "Don’t expect me to play silly games with you, I’m far too wise for that! Hear this, ponies! My power is infinite under Lord Discord! Your hopes and dreams are useless! If you continue to defy us, we will unleash the full powers of chaos and conquer you! You can’t escape!"

Full powers of chaos? Māo Xū thought to herself. She whispered a battle plan to Azura, who nodded in agreement.

"You think you've won, Vasilas," boasted Azura, "but the battle's not over yet! Before I met Māo Xū, I didn't that many friends outside of the ones I grew up with. Now I realize that, as long as those very friends are with me, we shall overcome anything. Māo Xū!"

"Ready! The seven Chaos are the servers. Chaos is power, enriched by the heart. The controller is the one who unifies the Chaos. <span id="result_box" class="" lang="en">Dissolve the chaos to neutralize the fear; Elements of Harmony, appear!</span><span id="result_box" class="" lang="en">"</span>

As Māo Xū's spell took effect, the Elements materialized over Adamina, Beryl, Blain, Glaucia, Zedong and Azura. Māo Xū's body became engulfed in a blue aura. The seven friends then focused their energies and shot Vasilas with the Rainbow of Light, his body slowly glowing with green energy from the feet up.

"You’ve used up all your power, that wasn’t very smart, Māo Xū," taunted Vasilas, gradually assuming a crystalline form. "Now
you are of no use to anyone! You can’t get away from the dark forces! Evil and chaos are everywhere, so don’t savor your victory. You haven’t won at all! What a waste of time!"

Māo Xū remained silent as her body and those of the Original Bearers started crystallizing as well.

Well, this is it, thought Māo Xū. I've learned so much throughout my travels, made new friends. Celestia, Luna, if you can, please
defeat Discord. If not, then please make it so he can't harm your subjects any longer. Even now, the visions of the future haunt me. What's this? Vasilas has returned? Nightmare Moon? Ah, so Celestia has chosen six new ponies to bear the Elements. Oh, no. Discord has escaped. Thank the heavens, the six ponies from before have sealed him again.

"…Māo Xū then foresaw more events: Parasprite invasion, the war with the buffalo in Appleoosa and the Grand Galloping Gala in ruins. With tears in her eyes, Māo Xū silently bid her final farewell to life as she and her friends became the seven gems known as the Chaos Emeralds, while Vasilas, the controller, was dubbed the Master Emerald. Gosh, Your Highness, I didn't realize. Do you miss them?"

A grey furred Earth pony with a sandy blonde mane and tail had just read the story of the Chaos Emeralds from the Canterlot Royal Library's copy of Tale of Discord. Her lavender eyes turned to Luna, whose somber expression seemed to answer for her.

"I see. Well, I hope to see you in higher spirits for next week."

"Why," wondered Luna, "What happens then, Sundance?"

"The Founder's Day Carnival in Ponyville. Don't tell me Celestia didn't tell you?"

"No, no she did not. I'll have to look into it."
